DTN COMMENTS:  More bids are now on the table in parts of Nebraska and 
Kansas this afternoon, Southern asking prices are around $216-plus, but 
they are still not established in the North. Significant trade volume may 
be delayed until sometime Thursday or later. 

Today's slaughter totaled 121,000 head, 1,000 below last week, and 3,000 
less than a year ago.  Cattle futures closed mostly sharply lower on live 
contracts, off 22 to 162, while feeders ended the day off 120 to 187. 
Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with moderate box movement.
